Watch: Sensational Modric pass helped keep Real Madrid's UCL hopes alive

What. A. Pass.

With Real Madrid trailing 3-0 in the match and on the verge of exiting the Champions League at the hands of a stunning Chelsea comeback, Luka Modric produced a moment of class to help send the exhilarating tie to extra time.

The Croatian midfielder picked out substitute Rodrygo with a sublime outside-of-the-foot ball, and the Brazilian slotted it home on the volley. The goal knotted the encounter at four apiece on aggregate.

Watch: Villarreal bounce Bayern Munich with incredible late breakaway

Somehow, Bayern Munich’s journey is over.

Villarreal are sensationally through to the Champions League semifinals following a superb breakaway goal in the 88th minute on Tuesday.

Substitute Samuel Chukwueze made it 2-1 on aggregate with Villarreal’s first and only effort on target in the match. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski’s earlier finish for the hosts was just one of 24 shots attempted by the German giants.

Villarreal, a modest Spanish club hailing from a town of around 50,000 people, are on a remarkable unbeaten streak of 13 European knockout games under manager Unai Emery. The only major honor in their 99-year history was taken from last season’s shock Europa League final triumph over Manchester United.

Mount is just the third Englishman to score a Champions League goal against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, following Leeds United’s Alan Smith (2001) and Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck (2013).

The goal kickstarted a wild affair in the Spanish capital, as Real Madrid recovered from three consecutive Chelsea tallies and, despite losing the match, did enough to claim a 5-4 aggregate triumph in extra time.

Watch: Werner shows incredible patience to score lovely solo goal

Chelsea flirted with a classic Champions League victory after Timo Werner scored to give the Blues a 4-3 aggregate lead at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.

Real Madrid logged a statement 3-1 away win in the first leg but faced the prospect of a disastrous quarterfinal elimination following Mason Mount’s fine finish, Antonio Rudiger’s header, and Werner’s dribbling deflected shot.

However, Real Madrid substitute Rodrygo leveled the tie just five minutes later.
