Watch: Chelsea's Mount stays hot with slick goal vs. Real Madrid

Chelsea’s Mason Mount swept the ball past Thibaut Courtois to reignite Tuesday’s Champions League decider against Real Madrid.

The Blues, who fell 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the opening leg of their quarterfinal meeting with the Spanish giants, were given hope of keeping their Champions League defense alive thanks to Mount’s 15th-minute opener.

Mount is just the third Englishman to score a Champions League goal against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, following Leeds United’s Alan Smith (2001) and Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck (2013).

The goal kickstarted a wild affair in the Spanish capital, as Real Madrid recovered from three consecutive Chelsea tallies and, despite losing the match, did enough to claim a 5-4 aggregate triumph in extra time.

Watch: Werner shows incredible patience to score lovely solo goal

Chelsea flirted with a classic Champions League victory after Timo Werner scored to give the Blues a 4-3 aggregate lead at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.

Real Madrid logged a statement 3-1 away win in the first leg but faced the prospect of a disastrous quarterfinal elimination following Mason Mount’s fine finish, Antonio Rudiger’s header, and Werner’s dribbling deflected shot.

However, Real Madrid substitute Rodrygo leveled the tie just five minutes later.

Watch: Atletico's Vrsaljko appears to spit at Walker in post-match scrap

Hostilities between Atletico Madrid and Manchester City spilled into the bowels of the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday.

Following the clubs’ contentious Champions League quarterfinal second leg, a number of Atletico’s players continued to jaw at their counterparts in the tunnel. Stefan Savic, who pulled Jack Grealish’s hair in a sideline scuffle that lasted several minutes, barked at the English international as they walked up the stairs and to their respective dressing rooms.

Unused substitute Sime Vrsaljko also lost his temper in the background. The Croatian full-back threw something at City’s Aymeric Laporte before making a spitting motion at Kyle Walker. Vrsaljko was then restrained by staff.

Things continued in the tunnel between Atleti and Man City.

Neither the players nor managers commented on the incident in their post-match interviews. City boss Pep Guardiola refused to discuss the referee or his opponents with reporters, while Atletico coach Diego Simeone insisted he “didn’t see” what happened.

Despite settling for a goalless draw Wednesday, City advanced to the Champions League semifinals with a 1-0 win on aggregate.
