Lionel Messi to the rescue.

The Argentine star powered Paris Saint-Germain to a key victory over RB Leipzig in Tuesday’s Champions League encounter, scoring twice after his side went 2-1 down in the second half.

After tapping the ball into an open net for his first tally, Messi delivered the decisive blow in style, clipping a delightful Panenka penalty beyond a helpless Peter Gulacsi in the Leipzig goal.

Report: United, Real Madrid target Haaland wants £30M in annual wages

All signs appear to be pointing to Erling Haaland leaving Borussia Dortmund next summer. But sealing a move for one of the world’s most coveted players will come at a steep price.

The Norwegian striker is likely to demand an annual salary worth at least £30 million if one of his many suitors triggers the release clause in his Dortmund contract after the season, according to Mark Ogden of ESPN.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Real Madrid are all reportedly prepared to launch a bid to sign the 21-year-old.

Haaland will reportedly be allowed to leave at the end of the season if the €75-million (£63-million) buyout clause in his contract is activated. But the cost is expected to rise significantly after payments to Haaland’s representatives are factored in, Ogden adds.

Dortmund placed a €180-million price tag on the exciting forward last summer but pulled him off the market following the departure of Jadon Sancho, who completed a lucrative transfer to Manchester United.

A day after United’s shocking signing of Cristiano Ronaldo at the deadline, it emerged that the Red Devils had listed Haaland as their top target for next summer. The Premier League side has been heavily linked with the striker, whom United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer coached at Molde, since failing to sign him in 2019.

Real Madrid, City, and Chelsea will provide some heavyweight competition for his signature, while Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have fallen behind the pack in the race to sign Haaland, Ogden reports.

Haaland has developed into one of the world’s brightest stars since his move to Germany, where he’s scored 70 goals in 69 appearances for Borussia Dortmund.
