Pep Guardiola wants a new left-back to make sure squad can compete on all fronts next season

Man City step up bid to sign Leicester’s Ben Chilwell following Benjamin Mendy’s injuries.

MANCHESTER CITY are reportedly intensifying their efforts to sign Leicester City star Ben Chilwell.

ESPN claims the left-back is in Pep Guardiola’s sights this summer following Benjamin Mendy’s injury setbacks.

Chilwell has emerged as one of the leading young defenders in the Premier League under Claude Puel, winning five England caps in the process.

He would count as a home-grown option for Manchester City in their domestic and European player registration.

And at just 22-year-old, there’s plenty of time for Chilwell to get even better in the future.

Guardiola fears he could miss out on this season’s title to Liverpool due to various injury concerns weakening his squad.
